Maple-Pecan Granola Crunch

Learn how to make your own granola

September 28, 2012

Granola is a uniquely American breakfast cereal. Here’s how to make your own. And you can store it in an airtight container for up to one week—if it lasts that long!

Makes: 16 servings (serving size: 1/4 cup)

Cooking spray

2 cups regular oats

1/2 cup pecan pieces

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons canola oil

1/8 teaspoon salt

1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Coat a large jelly-roll pan with cooking spray.

2. Combine oats, pecan pieces, syrup, brown sugar, oil, and salt. Spread mixture evenly in pan.

3. Bake in oven for 40-45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool completely.
