This summer, look to the sky for action and adventure. Planes: Fire & Rescue will take off in theaters on July 18. The animated film is the sequel to Planes, released in April 2013.
Planes: Fire & Rescue continues the story of Dusty Crophopper, a small town airplane-turned-international racing champion. After his victorious win as the underdog of the Wings Across the Globe Race, Dusty, voiced by Dane Cook, learns his engine his damaged and he may never be allowed to race again.
So, he teams up with fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger, a new character to the Planes franchise, voiced by Ed Harris. Blade is a veteran aerial firefighter and part of a team of all-terrain rescue vehicles called The Smokejumpers. Dusty’s fearlessness and determination earn him a spot on the team to help combat a massive wildfire. In his last adventure, Dusty learned how to be a champion. Now, he must learn to be a hero.
Did You Know?
Most of the aircrafts in Planes: Fire & Rescue are made-up plane models. The design of Dusty, however, is a combination of an Air Tractor AT-502 crop-dusting plane, Cessna, and M18 Dromader model airplanes.
