Close your eyes and listen for a moment as Jackie Evancho sings. Most people would picture an adult belting out those high notes. But they'd be wrong. Jackie, who sings opera and classical crossover music, is just 10 years old. As the runner-up on Season 5 of NBC's popular show America's Got Talent, Jackie shocked the judges, and millions of viewers, with her big voice. Her first performance on the show was Giacomo Puccini's "O Mio Babbino Caro" (which means "Oh My Dear Papa" in Italian). She received a standing ovation. "I'm going to prove to America that the best things come in small packages," she told TV viewers at the time.

She accomplished her mission! On November 16, Jackie's new Christmas album/DVD set, "O Holy Night," debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 list. On December 16, she is scheduled to perform at the PBS National Christmas Tree Lighting in Washington, D.C. TFK Kid Reporter Veronica Louise Mendoza spoke to Jackie about her journey to stardom.

TFK:

How did it feel to have your album debut at No. 2 on the Billboard 200?

JACKIE EVANCHO:

It feels very special, and I feel very happy.

TFK:

How has your life changed since you appeared on America's Got Talent?

JACKIE:

I don't really see a significant change, but I do notice that people recognize me.

TFK:

How do you find time to still be a regular 10-year-old?

JACKIE:

[My parents try to balance my schedule], so that way, I can still enjoy the life of a normal little girl.

TFK:

Why did you decide to sing classical crossover music?

JACKIE:

I chose to sing classical crossover because it isn't any ordinary style [of music]. It is a very special kind, and it's easier to show a lot of emotion in the songs. Plus, you don't see a lot of kids singing it.

TFK:

What other hobbies do you have?

JACKIE:

Sewing, playing the piano, playing violin and playing with my friends, family and pets.

TFK:

Why is singer Sarah Brightman your idol?

JACKIE:

She isn't afraid to be herself, and she is a very great singer. She has the correct techniques, and she is a good person.

TFK:

Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?

JACKIE:

I see myself singing for the Pope, for the President and at Simon Cowell's wedding.

TFK:

What is your message to fans who aspire to be like you?

JACKIE:

If you have an outrageous dream, follow it no matter what people say.

TFK:

What's your Christmas wish?

JACKIE:

This is my major Christmas wish: I really want to help baby seals and help the world.
