What’s the basic story line?

Stick Dog is a dog that lives in an empty pipe under Highway 16. He has four loyal dog friends named Poo-Poo, Stripes, Karen and Mutt. When Stick Dog catches the scent of some tasty hamburgers, he and his pals decide to go on an adventure to steal the food from a human family that is having a barbecue in Picasso Park. Along the way, they face a series of hilarious challenges, including an acorn-dropping squirrel, a long two-pronged fork and the gang’s own fear of sneaking up on humans.

Are the characters believable? Explain.

The dog characters are very believable because as they stumble through their adventure, they have many of the same feelings people do. Poo-Poo gets angry with a squirrel that he thinks is being rude to him, and all the dogs in the gang offer crazy ideas about how they can best get the hamburgers. Even though Stick Dog sometimes gets frustrated in guiding the gang to its goal, he is able to remain the brave leader through it all.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being best), how would you rate this book? Explain.

I’d rate this book 9 out of 10 because I was constantly laughing out loud at all the funny scenes. The conversations between Stick Dog and his friends are not to be missed.
