For the fourth year in a row, TFK readers chose the men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces as the TFK Persons of the Year. These 1.4 million people proudly represent the U.S. while working overseas. They also help our nation in times of crisis at home.

Swimmer Michael Phelps received the second-highest number of votes. During the 2012 Olympics, in London, England, Phelps became the most decorated Olympian of all time. Members of the hit band One Direction came in third. More than 8,000 votes were cast. Whom did you vote for?
