THE PROBLEM:
It's good versus evil as the wizarding world openly goes to war against Voldemort. The Dark Lord and his loyal Death Eaters have been causing chaos and destruction left and right. And if battling dark wizards weren't enough, Harry must also fight his growing attraction to his best friend's sister!

QUIDDITCH UPDATE:
Harry becomes captain of the Gryffindor team.

SCARY MONSTER:
Inferi. They are dead bodies that have been bewitched, or put under a spell, to serve a dark wizard. Voldemort created an army of them when he was last powerful.

DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS TEACHER:
Snape finally lands his dream job. But which side, good or bad, is the professor really on? Meanwhile, Horace Slughorn takes up Snape's old post as Potions professor.

NEW SPELL:
Sixth-year students learn how to Apparate. Apparition is the ability to disappear and reappear wherever a wizard wants.

WHAT HARRY LEARNS:
Harry receives some extra help in Potions from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince, who also teaches him some new spells. Dumbledore gives Harry private lessons this year as well. By using the Headmaster's Pensieve to visit others' memories, Harry learns some very important things about Voldemort's past. What Harry discovers is crucial in protecting him from the Dark Lord.
