Teen band Big Time Rush (BTR) has hit it big. Their debut CD, named after the band, came out on October 11. If the songs, including "Til I Forget About You," sound familiar, you may have heard them on BTR's hit TV series on Nickelodeon. Band members Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Peña and Logan Henderson play themselves on the show, which chronicles the lives of four high school friends from Minnesota who make it big in Los Angeles. TFK Kid Reporter Sahil Abbi got the scoop on the band's favorite songs from the new CD, what they like to do in their spare time and much more.

TFK:

What is your favorite song on the new CD?

Carlos:

I have two: "Big Night" and "Worldwide." I like "Big Night" because it's a party song and I have a lot of fun singing it. "Worldwide" is a very emotional song to sing and I feel a real connection to it.

TFK:

What is your favorite part of what you do, the show or the music?

Logan:

That's a tough one. They're pretty much tied for me. If I had to pick one, I'd have to say the music. Acting is kind of second nature. That's what I came out here to L.A. to do. But music has taken over my life.

TFK:

Is there an artist or band that you admire or look to for inspiration? Kendall: I have two favorite bands: Incubus and Taking Back Sunday.

Carlos:

I'm deeply into musical theater. I just love it, and I love oldies rock too.

Logan:

I like the oldies. I love Stevie Wonder and Billie Holliday.

James:

I like a lot of music as well, but Jack Johnson is my favorite artist.

TFK:

Was there one experience that made you realize how popular you guys are?

Kendall:

Just looking out the window here (at the Brooklyn Bowl in New York), all the fans were out there and they saw us at the window and they were really excited. Any fan reaction is shocking for us. It's awesome that people actually watch the show, and really care about it and support it. It's a miracle to us. We're so happy that we can perform for everybody.

Carlos:

For me, the most shocking experience was playing Times Square. Seeing the workers build our stage at one in the morning was unreal. We woke up the next morning and people were just packed outside. It was nuts.

TFK:

Is there a lucky charm you always keep with you?

James:

All of us wear Silly Bandz that fans give us. Whenever fans throw them on stage, we put them on. We keep them on in the recording studio and when we're performing at concerts.

Logan:

We have a lucky ritual too. We'll all get in a group before a performance and just goof around and sing a song together.

TFK:

What's your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Kendall:

I like to play guitar, hang out with friends and go snowboarding.

James:

I like to surf and go to the beach as much as I can.

Carlos:

I recently got into snowboarding. I also like taking long bike rides down the coast.

Logan:

I love to snowboard. I just got a new board for the New Year, so I'm excited to take that out. I'm also a huge moviegoer and I love any type of outdoor activity.

TFK:

What's next for Big Time Rush?

Kendall:

We're halfway through the first season of our show on Nickelodeon. We're going to be doing a whole bunch of new episodes for the second season. Then, I think we're probably going to go on tour.

TFK:

Do you have any words of advice for kids who aspire to be actors or musicians?

James:

If it's what you love, just do it. It doesn't matter if you have professional work or not. You'll enjoy it no matter if you're practicing or auditioning.

Logan:

Just don't stop. Keep at it. But make sure you love it. You've got to love what you do.
