But having the penguins around turns out to be a good thing in the end. The birds bring Popper and his family closer together. Did You Know?

The original storybook, Mr. Popper's Penguins, by Richard and Florence Atwater, tells the story of a poor house painter named Mr. Popper. In the book, the Popper family starts out with just one penguin, which they name Captain Cook. Sensing that Captain Cook is lonely, the Poppers adopt a female penguin, Greta. Before long, the feathered family grows to 12!
