Directed by Michael Bay

Starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whviteley, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel

The Transformers are back, and this time, Earth may be in its biggest danger yet. In Dark of the Moon, Transformer Optimus Prime, the bot's human ally Sam Witwicky (LaBeouf), and the rest of the Autobots learn of a dark secret kept by the U.S. government about the 1969 Apollo 11 moon-landing mission. These mysterious events from the dark of the moon threaten to bring a war so big to present-day Earth, that the Transformers alone can't save us.

Meanwhile, the Decepticons are out for revenge in an assault on the city of Chicago led by new villain Shockwave—an attack that puts Sam's new girlfriend, Carly (Huntington-Whiteley), in danger. Patrick Dempsey plays Carly's race-car driver boss. Actors Ken Jeong and John Malkovich also join the cast.

In this installment, long-time Transformers fans can look forward to the new appearance of vintage robots from the original 1980's TV show and comics, including Optimus Prime's predecessor, Sentinel Prime (voiced by Leonard Nimoy). Fans can also expect more impressive 3-D effects; this is the first Transformers film shot using Avatar's digital 3-D filming technology.
