Six tiny blue Smurfs, each standing just three apples high, are about to encounter the biggest apple of all: New York City. The movie, also playing in 3-D, is set in the Middle Ages, a time when sorcery reigns supreme. Gargamel (Azaria), the Smurfs's evil wizard enemy, has discovered the location of Smurf Village, and chases the little blue guys out. Before long, they end up stumbling into a magical portal that transports them from their world to present-day Central Park.

Luckily, the Smurfs make their way to the home of Patrick (Harris) and Grace Winslow (Mays), a married couple who agree to take in the Smurfs and help get them home safely. Now Papa Smurf (voiced by Winters), Clumsy Smurf (Yelchin), Grouchy Smurf (Lopez), Gutsy Smurf (Cumming), Brainy Smurf (Armisen) and Smurfette (Perry) must find a way back to their village before Gargamel catches up to them.

Did You Know?

The Smurfs began as a Belgian comic strip over 50 years ago. But it wasn't until 1981 that the characters launched to worldwide fame as a Saturday-morning cartoon series. This started a flurry of Smurftastic merchandise. There are more than 300 million plastic Smurf figurines distributed around the world.
