What’s the basic story line?
When Griffin Bing, “the man with the plan,” and his team play a prank on the school bully, Daren Vader, things end up getting a little out of control. The new kid at school, Victor Phoenix, mistakes Griffin for a bully and creates a rift between Griffin and his beloved team. Griffin immediately decides there is something fishy about this new kid and makes a plan to find out exactly what it is. When the new team (the team minus Griffin) and Victor and Griffin and Daren all hear about a missing $30 million lottery ticket, each of them wants a share in the jackpot. Victor, trying to cement the relationship with his new team, comes up with a plan to find the ticket. Griffin and Daren, an unexpected pair, work together to try to get a share of the winnings too.
Are the characters believable?
Yes, they are. This book has extraordinary, but possible, situations mixed in with life lessons about bullies, money, and greed. These characters could be normal eighth graders in the real world.
Who would like this book?
I think any kid who likes page-turners, mysteries, or humorous books will enjoy Jackpot.
