What’s the basic story line?

The Forgotten Warrior is the fifth book in author Erin Hunter’s Omen of the Stars series. The book follows the Thunder Clan cats—Dovewing, Jayfeather and Lionblaze—as they await to find the fourth cat of the new Prophecy that was revealed to Jayfeather in the last book.

The story starts off with the return of Sol, a cat who was banished previously. He is believed to have saved Cherrykit and Molekit, Sorreltail’s kits (baby cats), from a fox and is welcomed into Thunder Clan. However, Dovewing is suspicious of his loyalty. Ivypool continues to spy for the Clan in the Dark Forest and receives a shock when she realizes her father is also training there. Jayfeather and Lionblaze continue to believe that their sister, Hollyleaf, did not die and is still alive.

Are the characters believable?

Even though the characters are cats, some of whom have special powers, they have human traits that bring them to life and make them quite believable.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best), how would you rate this book?

I would rate this book an 8. The book was enjoyable and left me wanting to know what would happen next. A word to the wise: Read the author’s previous series before beginning the Omen of the Stars series because there are many references to the early books. There are also quite a few characters in the book, so it is a little hard to keep track of all of them. However, the book was able to keep my interest until the end.
