Jake Short’s got tal-ANT! The actor stars as artistic genius Fletcher Quimby on the hit show A.N.T. Farm, airing Fridays on Disney Channel. The series, now in its second season, follows a group of middle-school prodigies who are enrolled in Webster High’s Advanced Natural Talents (A.N.T.) program. Fletcher is gifted in every type of media imaginable, from drawing and painting to creating sculptures out of beeswax and bubblegum. Many of his masterpieces feature his fellow A.N.T. and crush, Chyna Parks (played by China Anne McClain).

TFK spoke to Jake recently about the new season. Read on to find out what fans can look forward to in the future.

TFK:

How are you similar to Fletcher?

JAKE SHORT:

I would say we’re both very much ourselves. We’re not afraid to express that. But he’s much better at art, and I’m much better at athletics. I could never create the art that Fletcher does.

TFK:

What’s your favorite piece of artwork that Fletcher has created?

JAKE:

There is one painting that is just this face with a huge eye. It’s featured in the background. I remember seeing it [for the first time] and thinking, “I don’t get it, but it’s so cool.”

TFK:

If you were in the A.N.T. program, what would be your special talent?

JAKE:

I’m pretty good at tumbling and gymnastics. I like sports. So my talent would probably have something to do with sports.

TFK:

If A.N.T. Farm could do a crossover with another Disney Channel show, which one would you want it to be?

JAKE:

I would probably say Jessie. They film on the soundstage across from us. It would really be cool to be on their show.

TFK:

Is there a dream guest star that you would like to appear on the show?

JAKE:

I’m a very big fan of Zachary Levi. He does really great stuff.

TFK:

Who would he play?

JAKE:

He would be the guy who is in every episode! Or he could be a crazy teacher or something.

TFK:

What can fans look forward to in upcoming episodes?

JAKE:

They can look forward to funny storylines and many stunts. But not too many punches [aimed at Fletcher], I hope! And more of Fletcher crushing on Chyna.

TFK:

What do you hope will happen with your character in the future?

JAKE:

I hope to see him grow in height, like I hope for myself! I also kind of want to see Fletcher’s mom and dad and see what they’re like.

TFK:

Maybe Zachary Levi could play your dad.

JAKE:

Yes, that would be perfect!
