The stars of Disney XD's Kickin' It are back for a third season.

Dylan Riley Snyder, 16, is back for a third season of Disney XD’s hit series Kickin’ It. On the show, Dylan plays the quirky brainiac Milton, who divides his time between homework and practicing karate with the rest of the gang. Outside of Kickin’ It, Dylan is involved with number of charity organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, The Shoe Crew and the American Cancer Society. TFK caught up with the young actor to talk about the upcoming season of Kickin’ It.

TFK:

Kickin’ It just kicked off its third season. How has your experience been with the show?

DYLAN RILEY SNYDER:

It’s been absolutely phenomenal. I’ve learned a lot about acting, comedy and camera work. This has been my first time as TV actor, so I’ve learned different sides and angles of this industry. It’s been an amazing learning experience.

TFK:

Do the cast members work well together?

DYLAN:

We get along so well and we’re a really tight cast. Everyone hangs out at lunch and sometimes we have breaks where we all play musical instruments together. Our cast has grown very close over the past few years since we started on the show.

TFK:

The show features a lot of karate action. Tell us about your martial arts training.

DYLAN:

Before the series I had never done one thing in martial arts. I always wanted to join a karate class, so I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to try it on this show. Right when the series started, we had a two-week “boot camp,” where we practiced basic kicks and punches and learned how to make karate look good on TV. Now, we still have fight rehearsals once a week, but most of our karate performance is based on that initial training.

TFK:

What is your character Milton up to this season?

DYLAN:

Milton is a brainy and academic character on the show. In an episode later this season, he comes up with an invention that unexpectedly turns on him and sends everything into chaos. In another episode, he goes to Scotland to visit his family. This episode explains a lot about Milton’s character and where he comes from.

TFK:

Do you relate to Milton?

DYLAN:

Milton is very smart. I enjoy school a lot, but I have more interests than he does outside of school. Honestly, I don’t always understand everything he says! But we do share the same favorite school subjects: math and science. Whenever Milton has a line or a scene about something I don’t fully comprehend, I have to do some personal research or studying. It’s actually been pretty cool to have these challenges because I’m learning new things. Someday, though, I would like to go to college to study physics. That seems like something Milton would do!

TFK:

What can viewers learn from Milton?

DYLAN:

He’s not like everyone else. He’s quirky and different and a true individual, so I feel his character can really teach kids how to be self-confident. There are a lot Miltons in the world, and I want his character to show viewers you should be happy with who you are.

TFK:

Do you have any advice for kids hoping to be actors or performers?

DYLAN:

You’ll have to struggle at first, but if let your heart take you where you want to go, the hard work will be worth it.  If you don’t try your best, it might not happen. Be fully devoted to what you’re doing.
