Based on the second book of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series comes Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters. In the film's prequel, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Percy discovers that he is the son of Poseidon and meets teens like him who have Greek mythological backgrounds. The second film continues with Percy, who learns he must find the fabled and magical Golden Fleece to fulfill his destiny. Jackson recruits his friends Annabeth Chase and Satyr Grover for the risky journey. The group travels to the mystical, unfamiliar waters of the Sea of Monsters—known to humans as the Bermuda Triangle. To complete their mission, the teens must brave a dangerous ride in a magical New York City taxi. Along the way they face monsters, sharks and a killer whirlpool. But defeat is not an option as Percy must find the Fleece in order to save Camp Half-Blood, the safe haven for demigods.
Did You Know?
The Sea of Monsters is the shortest book in Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series and, as of now, in the whole Camp Half-Blood series.
Director Chris Columbus, who directed the first Percy Jackson movie and the first two Harry Potter films, did not return to direct Sea of Monsters. But he did help produce the film.
