Nintendo’s popular Animal Crossing series has sold more than 16 million copies in the U.S. since the first game was released in 2002. The newest, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, is the first one made for Nintendo 3DS. In the game, the player becomes mayor of a town of friendly animal villagers. The game plays out in real time, so shops close at night, seasons change, and town life continues even when the 3DS is off. This whimsical game allows players to sit back, relax, and explore a new world. Return each day for something new!

At the start of the game, the player becomes mayor and gets a loan from raccoon Tom Nook to build a home in town. From there, it’s open-ended. Players are free to explore, make friends, complete town projects, and collect bells, which can be used to buy items like clothes, tools, or decorations.
