Emblem3 members Keaton Stromberg, Wesley Stromberg, and Drew Chadwick meet with TFK Kid Reporter Phoebe Weintraub at the Columbia Records studio, in New York City.

Brothers Keaton and Wesley Stromberg and their close friend Drew Chadwick have been making music together since they were kids growing up in the small town of Sequim, Washington. They decided to form a band and called themselves Emblem3.

Last year, they entered The X Factor, a televised singing competition. They made it to the finals, and the experience changed their lives. Emblem3’s debut album, Nothing to Lose, came out on July 30. The band recently sat down with TFK Kid Reporter Phoebe Weintraub to talk about their music, their tour, and the key to their success.

TFK:

Congratulations on the release of your new album, Nothing to Lose! How does it feel to finally release the complete album?

KEATON:

It's truly amazing to finally release the album. This is the first record we have put out, and we are so stoked for everyone to hear what our new sound is. We hope everyone likes it.

WESLEY:

It's basically a dream come true. We have been working on this since we were 9 and 11 and 13. We have been dreaming of this.

TFK:

What is your favorite song from the album?

KEATON:

My favorite is "3,000 Miles." It is just really heartwarming, and it relates to how I am feeling.

TFK:

What is the idea behind the name of the album,Nothing to Lose?

KEATON:

Basically, we went on the TV show The X Factor, and our mindset going into it was that we have nothing to lose and it is just a game. If we didn't make it past that first audition then we would have continued to make music and would be back where we started.

TFK:

How is the tour going so far?

KEATON:

The tour is going great. Every show is packed. Everyone is rocking out, and every show is awesome. On August 14th, we start touring with Selena Gomez, which is really cool. We are stoked about that.

TFK:

You’re performing in lots of cities. Are there any stops you’re especially looking forward to?

WESLEY:

I'm looking forward to playing the Staples Center in Los Angeles with Selena [Gomez] because that has always been a dream of mine.

TFK:

I know you are brothers, Keaton and Wesley, but how long have you known Drew?

KEATON:

We have been friends for a very long time—maybe 9 or 10 years—and he is like a brother to us.

TFK:

Did you always want to be singers, even as children?

KEATON:

I think we all dreamed about being rock stars one day.

WESLEY:

We started a band and didn't want to do anything else.

TFK:

Did your parents encourage you to pursue music?

KEATON:

Yes, our parents were always supportive and absolutely believed in us.

WESLEY:

The only reason we went on The X Factor was because our mom believed in us and said we had to do it.
