My Keepon
My Keepon has had an interesting journey from invention to toy. The fuzzy, yellow dancing robot was originally built to help children with autism in Japan. In 2007, the toy made its famous worldwide debut in a video on YouTube. In it, My Keepon rocks out to a song by the indie band Spoon, squishing, bouncing and bobbing its head to the beat. That’s when the funny little guy caught the attention of toymakers. Now, Wow! Tablets
Touch-screen tablets are all the rage this holiday season. There are plenty to choose from, depending on your budget and age. The iPad 2 ($499 and up) is the tablet that started the trend and is still the most powerful. It’s great for adults and teens looking for a device that can play videos, store music, display books, load games and take pictures and video. At half the cost of an iPad, the Nook Tablet ($249), the Nook Color ($199) and the Kindle Fire ($199) are strong options for budget-conscious, media-savvy kids and families looking for gadgets that can stream video, display interactive books and magazines and load popular games like Angry Birds.
