Call of the Wild
Officials say gray wolves have recovered. But conservationists insist the animals aren’t safe yet. Thanks to protection under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, the number of gray wolves has rebounded to about 6,000. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service plans to remove the animal from the endangered-species list and turn wolf management over to states. People have until December 17 to voice their opinions about the wolf debate at regulations.gov. A final decision will be made in June of next year.
