Kenn Nesbitt

Kenn Nesbitt loves his job. As a poet for kids, he travels the country to visit schools and give assemblies about poetry. He performs his poems and helps kids write their own. “It’s a blast!” Nesbitt says.

His enthusiasm is one reason that Nesbitt is the Poetry Foundation’s current Children’s Poet Laureate. He acts as the top cheerleader for children’s poetry in the United States. He began his two-year term last summer. In the role, Nesbitt gives readings for young readers and their families. He also gives advice to the Poetry Foundation about children’s literature.

Even with his new role, Nesbitt still found time to judge the 2014 TFK Poetry Contest for the sixth year. He reads every poem sent in by TFK readers. Read this year's winning rhymes here. Thanks, Kenn!

Above, watch Nesbitt read a funny poem from The Armpit of Doom, his latest book of poetry.
