Lincoln (Movie Trailer)

The movie Lincoln looks at the final months of our 16th President's life. But the focus is not on the bloody battle raging between North and South. Instead, director Steven Spielberg gives moviegoers a view of Lincoln, played by Daniel Day-Lewis (right), and his personal battle to pass the 13th Amendment to the Constitution. The 13th Amendment would abolish slavery forever. Lincoln doesn't have the votes in Congress to pass it, but he will stop at nothing until he does. "That's at the heart of the movie," Spielberg told TIME, "the fight to get the votes to do the right thing." In the process, Lincoln makes the war about ending slavery as much as about preserving the Union. In fact, for him, these two goals are one and the same. Watch the trailer for the movie above. The movie is rated PG-13.
