Lion Lights
At age 9, Richard Turere developed an answer to a very big problem. Like many farms in his community, the Turere family farm was home to many wild animals, including lions. Using what he knew about lions, Richard came up with an idea to harmlessly keep the cats away. His invention protects livestock as well as the endangered lion population.
Richard's invention earned him recognition from TED, a nonprofit group that spreads ideas through conferences and online videos. In this interview, Richard, now 13, explains his discovery and how it has impacted his community.
