Puppy Bowl IX

Animal Planet and have teamed up for the ultimate canine showdown. Puppy Bowl IX is set to kickoff on February 3—Super Bowl Sunday—starting at 3pm on Animal Planet. The Puppy Bowl began in 2004 to spread awareness about pet adoption all around he nation. “ Our main goal is to find loving homes for our fury friends and give viewers a cuteness overload,” Executive Producer Melinda Topinof told TFK.

This year, 63 adorable pups of all breeds come from shelters and rescue organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico participated in the Puppy Bowl. As hedgehog cheerleaders cheer them on, the puppies compete to be MVP(Most Valuable Puppy), a competition that is sure to have you wagging your tail. "Meet the Bird" will tweet live updates during the game from 3-5p.m., and a Special Kitty Half-Time gymnastics performance will keep you purring for more.

TFK Kid Reporter Storm Bookhard sat down with Puppy Bowl referee Dan Schachner at the filming of the game in November. He talked to TFK about his job.  “Watch your step," Schachner told TFK. "That’s probably the referee's most important job." (Reporting by Storm Bookhard/ Videography and editing by Stephanie Kraus)
