Space Junk

For as long as humans have traveled into space, they have left behind debris. The debris is everything from old satellites to the launch rockets that carry astronauts. Aside from the big pieces, NASA estimates that there are millions of pieces of junk that are too small to track. But even the smallest piece of metal traveling at 17,500 miles per hour can be dangerous. NASA created this video to illustrate how much space junk is circling our blue planet.
