Typhoons Explained

On November 8, the Philipines was hit with one of the strongest storms ever to make landfall on Earth. Super Typhoon Haiyan, called Yolanda in the Philippines, leveled nearly everything in its path, killing an estimated 2,500 people. According to the United Nations (U.N.), the powerful storm has affected 11.3 million people.
