World's Largest LEGO Model
May 29, 2013World's Largest LEGO Model
What does it take to build the world's largest LEGO model? It takes 5,335,200 LEGO bricks, 32 builders working a total of 17,336 hours (about four months), and the power of the Force. On May 23, the LEGO Group unveiled a massive replica of the LEGO Star Wars X-Wing starfighter in Times Square, in New York City. The event was held to celebrate the premiere of The Yoda Chronicles, a miniseries airing on May 29 on Cartoon Network. The model, built in the LEGO Model Shop, in Kladno, Czech Republic, is 42 times the size of the LEGO X-Wing starfighter set sold in stores.
One week before the unveiling, TFK got a behind-the-scenes look at the massive model from LEGO Master Builder Erik Varsegi. Watch the video above to see more. (Produced by Kelli Plasket)
