Time Traveler

DISNEY

Nearly 60 years ago, Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time appeared in bookstores. On March 9, a film adaptation of the award-winning science-fiction novel is coming to theaters. Storm Reid (above, right) plays Meg Murry, an unpopular and troublesome teenager. In the film, Meg’s scientist father disappears. With the help of friends, family, and a few celestial beings—including Mrs. Which, played by Oprah Winfrey (above, left)—Meg travels through space and time to find him before dark forces can beat her to it.

Storm, 14, says she enjoyed playing a character that many people can relate to. “At first, Meg doesn’t think she’s smart or worthy of being loved,” Storm told TFK. “But, like me, she’s very strong-willed.” Storm hopes audiences will be moved by what they see onscreen. “I hope people feel empowered,” she says. “I hope they leave the theater feeling inspired to come together and be potential change-makers in the world.”
