Darrius Peace owns a hair salon in Birmingham, Alabama. He also styles hair on movie sets, which can be tricky. “Maybe [the actors] have to look like they were born in 1791, or like they were born in 2091,” Peace says. He uses his problem-solving skills to nail the perfect look each time.

Shir Limazati is a dog trainer in Chicago, Illinois. Time-management skills help her keep things organized. Limazati teaches group classes and runs private sessions at people’s homes. “I spend my weekends studying all their information so that I’m ready for their session,” she says.

As a school counselor in Southern California, Maribel Garcia-Marin uses collaboration. She works with teachers, parents, other counselors, and kids. “The students who are withdrawn or quiet take a while to build a relationship with,” Garcia-Marin says. “But I don’t give up easily!”
