A Book of Hope and Home

COURTESY BAHRAM RAHMAN; BOOK: STEPHEN FOR TIME FOR KIDS

If You See a Bluebird is a book that uncovers the meaning of the word home. The story follows a refugee named Ali. He and his family have fled their home in Afghanistan. They find safety in a new country. Ali misses home back in Kabul. But he talks to his grandmother. She reminds him that home isn’t a place. It’s where his loved ones are.

TFK Kid Reporter Audrey Owolo spoke with author Bahram Rahman. He wanted to share a story of the refugee experience. He hopes that kids can relate to Ali’s story. No matter how difficult things are, “there’s always hope,” he says. “There are so many other beautiful things in life to look forward to.”
