For many, the coming of spring is a time to celebrate. There are different festivities in different parts of the world.
People in Brazil enjoyed Carnaval from February 13 to 21. The festival involves huge parades. People in New Orleans, Louisiana, also paraded. New Orleans celebrated Mardi Gras on February 17. In early March, people in South Asia celebrated Holi. It’s a bright, happy Hindu festival. There’s music and dancing. People eat traditional foods. And they smear one another with colorful powder (above). Droupadi Murmu is the president of India. She gave a statement on March 3. “May the colors of Holi bring happiness into everyone’s life,” she said.
