A group of playful pups trotted into the spotlight this month. They competed in the Puppy Bowl. The event airs every year before the Super Bowl. It’s shown on the Animal Planet network.

This year was the 22nd Puppy Bowl. It aired on February 8. There were 150 puppies. They ran and played on a mini football field.

The event raises awareness about pet adoption. The puppies all come from animal shelters. The Puppy Bowl helps them find homes. All of this year’s players have been adopted.

Go, Miss Coco!

Vijay Bissoondutt runs an animal shelter. It’s located on an island called Tortola. One of this year’s Puppy Bowl puppies came from the shelter. Her name is Miss Coco.

The Tortola community threw a Puppy Bowl party. They got to “watch and support Miss Coco,” Bissoondutt told TIME for Kids. “It’s amazing to see how these four-legged players have fun,” he says.
