Space is beautiful. It is full of color and light. Photographers capture this beauty. They take photos of planets and galaxies. They show us glowing moons. They take pictures of space travelers, too. Space photos show us other worlds. Here are just a few of the best from 2025.

In May, the China National Space Administration launched a spacecraft. It’s called Tianwen-2. It took this picture of Earth when it was more than 366,000 miles away. The photo was made public on May 30. The craft is traveling to a distant asteroid belt.

The northern lights brighten the sky with colors. They’re caused by particles from the sun striking Earth’s atmosphere. In November, the lights were visible in much of the United States. This image was captured on Shired Island, in Florida. Look closely. A meteor was captured too.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams left for the International Space Station on June 5, 2024. They planned to be there for just eight days. But their spacecraft had problems. It took them 288 days to splash back down on Earth. This photo shows them returning on March 18, 2025.
