A Superman comic book recently sold for more than $9 million. It’s the most expensive comic ever sold. That’s according to Heritage Auctions, an auction house in Texas.

Three brothers found the comic book. They were cleaning out their mother’s attic. They knew it was special. It’s the first Superman comic. When it was published, in 1939, it cost a dime.

On November 20, it sold for a record $9.12 million. The previous record for a comic-book sale was $6 million. Lon Allen is the vice president of comics at Heritage. “It was just in an attic, sitting in a box,” he told the AP. He added that it “could have easily been thrown away.”
