Not all bugs are known for their flavor. Cochineals are a type of beetle. They’re bright red. They’re used to create a dye called carmine. It’s in many products.

Candy

Carmine is sometimes used in candy. Red licorice (above) is one type. The dye gives the candy its bright-red color.
