Candy
Carmine is sometimes used in candy. Red licorice (above) is one type. The dye gives the candy its bright-red color.
Makeup

Red and pink makeup products often use carmine. It’s in lipstick and blush. It’s also used in nail polish.
Paint

Cochineals are not just used in food products. They were once used to create red paints. But today, many artists prefer different dyes.
Ice Cream

Strawberry ice cream is a classic. Cochineals might be the source of its pink color. Carmine dye is used for both red and pink.
