Reading, writing, and speaking are important skills. Without access to literacy materials, such as books, people miss out on a chance to improve their communication with words. Specialized kinds of literacy, such as digital and financial literacy, give people an understanding of how the world works. All around the country, kids are aiding the spread of literacy. From organizing book drives to tutoring, every effort matters.
