Prepare Together
Heatwaves. Hurricanes. Floods. These are examples of extreme weather. People are more likely than ever to experience these. Extreme weather can be scary. Being prepared for it can help. Sesame Street is playing a part. It has a new special on Netflix. It is called Storm on Sesame Street. It teaches families how to get ready for a storm.

In Storm on Sesame Street, a big storm is on its way. Elmo and his friends work together to prepare. They learn which supplies are important to have. They learn how to have courage when things feel scary. After the storm, people in the community come together. They fix Sesame Street.
Rocio Galarza works for Sesame Workshop. She was part of the team that created the special. She hopes it will motivate families to prepare for extreme weather. Galarza spoke with TFK Kid Reporter Bevy Lustig. Extreme weather events “can be very hard,” Galarza says. “But there are also beautiful moments in coming together as a community and helping one another.”

Rocio Galarza is the U.S. vice president of educational programs for Sesame Workshop.
