Star Power: Aniah Lampkin

Meet Service Star Aniah Lampkin, 9, who enjoys spreading kindness in Houston, Texas. TFK Kid Reporter Marvin Pierre spoke with Aniah about her efforts.
What does spreading kindness mean to you?
Spreading kindness means doing something small or big that makes someone else feel happy or included or cared for.
What’s one act of kindness you’ve done that makes you feel proud?
Last year, I made kindness kits for kids in need. The kits had notes, small toys, and snacks. I gave them out during testing week to help people feel calm and happy.
What would you say to kids who think they’re too young to make a difference?
Kindness doesn’t have an age limit. It has a big heart. You don’t need money or a big plan. Even a smile can change somebody’s day.
Do you have a “kind hero,” or someone you look up to?
My mom. She always helps people without expecting anything back. She takes food to her neighbors, visits sick people, and makes time to talk to me and my brothers every day.
What do you think is the biggest need in your community right now?
I think we need more places where kids feel safe and heard. Sometimes, kids have a lot going on, and having someone to talk to or a place to relax would help so much.
What’s your dream for the future?
I want to build a center where kids can come after school to learn, get help, and just be themselves. The center would be full of color, music, and laughter.
