The Magic Continues
Wicked: For Good is the sequel to Wicked. It arrived in theaters on November 21. The movies are set long before The Wizard of Oz. They tell the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West.
Stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande return as Elphaba and Glinda, two young witches. Oscar-winning hair and makeup designer Frances Hannon is back, too.
She worked with director Jon Chu on everything from Elphaba’s green skin to Prince Fiyero’s blue horses. (Yep, even the horses wore makeup.) Hannon led a team of hair, makeup, and prosthetic artists. They worked their magic to develop the look of the characters. “The characters change visually” from one movie to the next, she told TIME for Kids. “Their hair and makeup tell the story.”
