The Cat Prophecies: Claw Quest, by Nik Korpon and Jorge Enrique Paz, explores themes of belonging, courage, and trust. Readers will feel the characters’ anguish and joy. Korpon told TFK he hopes the book shows the power of friendship. “You can get through anything with your friends,” he says.
Cali, Colombia, isn’t just where the story takes place. It’s where Paz was born. The authors want TFK readers to know that Colombia is a “really vibrant, lively” place, Korpon says. They hope the book makes kids “want to learn Spanish and learn more about the world outside the U.S.,” he adds.
Overall, The Cat Prophecies: Claw Quest is a spirited and deeply thought-provoking book that encourages readers to speak up—and to never give up, no matter how bad a situation gets.
