Waste-Free Coffee

Starbucks is a popular coffee shop. It uses about 7 billion disposable cups each year. This creates a lot of waste. More than one-third of the company’s packaging waste is cups and lids.

Starbucks hopes to cut its waste in half. It wants to reach this goal by 2030. Stores around the world are testing ways to do this.

One plan allows customers to bring their own reusable cups. Some stores will have washing stations. So everything can be cleaned for use. There are also plans for a borrow-a-cup program. Customers pay a small fee to borrow a cup. If they return it, they get the money back as store credit.
