Fungus is a living thing. Some fungus looks like a plant. It is not. Fungus is its own group. Mold and mushrooms are two types.
Fungus grows in damp places (above). Most fungi do not grow tall. But they can grow deep underground.
Fungus moves under the Earth’s surface. These white strands are called mycelium. They spread deep and wide.

Fungus reproduces with spores. They are like tiny seeds. Fungi release clouds of spores. New fungi can grow where these land.
