Take a look outside. What is it like? It might be sunny and dry. It might be windy and cool. These words describe the weather. Different elements make up weather. Read about four of them.

Temperature

The temperature is how hot or cold the air is. In the United States, temperature is measured in degrees Fahrenheit (ºF).

Clouds

Clouds are made of water. They may carry rain or snow. They can block the sun. This can make the weather wet or cool.

Wind

Wind is the movement of air. It can be a gentle breeze. It can be a strong gust. Wind is measured in miles per hour.

Precipitation

Grab your umbrella! Precipitation is when water falls from the sky. Rain and snow are two types of precipitation.
