Summer Movies
Grab your popcorn and settle in for a show! TFK Kid Reporters spoke with the people behind some of the season’s top movie releases.
Toy Story 5

Woody, Buzz, and friends return for a story about the battle between technology and imagination. In Toy Story 5, Bonnie becomes attached to an electronic tablet called Lilypad. SCARLETT SPEARS, 8, voices Bonnie. She connects with Bonnie because “we both love our toys.” Scarlett hopes audiences see Bonnie as “a really kind girl.” And she hopes they enjoy the movie’s topics of “friendship, happiness,” and “the whole new concept” of tech versus toys. The Sheep Detectives

In The Sheep Detectives, in theaters now, George Hardy reads mysteries to his flock of sheep every night. When a real-life crime is committed, they’re eager to solve it. MOLLY GORDON, who plays the prime suspect, thinks viewers might be surprised by the movie’s depth. The film is funny, but it also brings up “some things that are kind of hard to talk about,” Gordon says. —By TFK Kid Reporter Axel Foster
Swapped

You’ve heard of walking in someone else’s shoes. What about someone else’s body? In Swapped, a bossy bird named Ivy and a small creature named Ollie unexpectedly swap bodies. The movie stars Juno Temple as Ivy and MICHAEL B. JORDAN as Ollie. “I hope everyone who watches this movie takes away the theme of empathy,” Jordan says. “Empathy is the strongest emotion that can bring people together.” Swapped is the perfect blend of humor and life lessons. It’s streaming on Netflix now. —By TFK Kid Reporter Aubrey Lamirault
