What a Seed Needs

Have you ever touched a seed? Outside, it is hard. Inside, it is ready to grow. But it needs help. A seed needs water to grow. It needs oxygen. And it needs the right temperature. Then it will germinate. That is when roots and a stem pop out. Learn more below.

Seeds need water.

Water softens the seed coat. Then a sprout can break through.

Seeds need oxygen.

Seeds breathe! Do not pack soil too tightly. Do not overwater seeds. They cannot get enough air like this.

Seeds grow at different temperatures.
